The Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell ushered in its eighth class of medical students on Thursday, July 26, 2018 with orientation activities that included a welcome reception with faculty/staff and community service initiatives to build unity among the new group while taking time to give back.
From New York to Nevada, the Class of 2022 is comprised of nearly 100 students from various U.S. regions and socioeconomic backgrounds, including more than 10 first-generation college graduates and two alumni of the Zucker School of Medicine’s Medical Scholars Pipeline Program, an initiative designed to increase the diversity of the healthcare workforce by exposing high-achieving, underserved adolescents to careers in the medical field. Also among the student body is a 20-year-old local college valedictorian who was accepted to seven medical schools and chose to take the journey to become a physician at the Zucker School of Medicine.
