Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine’s Joanne Willey, PhD, and Jill Maura Rabin, MD, have been voted as “Distinguished Teacher of the Year” for 2016-2017. Dr. Willey is distinguished teacher for the “First 100 Weeks” and Dr. Rabin for the “Second 100 Weeks” as selected by School of Medicine students. They will be honored at the 21st Annual Hofstra Gala on May 4, 2017, at Hofstra University and will have their portraits on display within a 2017 Teacher of the Year gallery at The Joan and Donald E. Axinn Library at Hofstra.
Each spring, graduating classes from all schools on Hofstra’s campus choose a faculty member to receive the university’s Distinguished Teacher of the Year award. Hofstra Northwell earmarks two recognitions for educators because the medical school’s curriculum operates on a first and second 100 weeks academic schedule as opposed to the traditional college calendar year.
